Health Professions Advisors at Colorado State University offer advising for students interested in careers in:
Chiropractic, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Optometry, Podiatry, and
Veterinary Medicine,
At Colorado State University students may choose a major from more than 65 fields of study. All students will work with a major advisor (their primary advisor) in their academic department to ensure that they meet graduation requirements.
Students who are interested in health professions will also work with a Health Professions Advisor (their secondary advisor) to ensure that they incorporate the prerequisites for professional health programs into their program of study.
Regardless of the major students choose, students who plan to continue their education in a health professional program will work with Health Professions Advisors to satisfy the “ABCs” required of those who apply to these post-graduate programs.
Academics—a strong GPA, appropriate science, math and elective courses.
Background—research, volunteer and community service, experiences that demonstrate compassion, leadership and communication skills.
Confirming Clinical Experience—volunteer and/or paid experience in health related fields, shadowing and informational interviews with health professionals, and campus involvement.
