Most health professions schools require a standardized entrance exam. While each entrance exam differs to some extent in subject matter, all test reading comprehension, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and subject area knowledge. Note that entrance exam scores may expire after a designated time (often 3-5 years). Be sure to check with individual institutions prior to completing an entrance exam and applying to be sure scores are valid.

Typical Standardized Exams:

There is no “correct” way to prepare for an entrance exam. Some students choose to take a prep course while others self-study using online resources or prep books. There are pros and cons to both approaches and it is up to the discretion of each individual to decide how best to prepare themselves for the exam. Feel free to discuss study resources and/or prep courses with your Health Professions Advisor.
