Pharmacy

 

Pharmacists are experts in the science of medications and the art of medication therapy. As such they are vital members of a health care team often called upon for information about specific medications. The principal goal of pharmaceutical care is to achieve definite outcomes from medication use, which improves patients' quality of life.
 
These outcomes include:
  • Cure of disease
  • Elimination or reduction of symptoms
  • Arresting or slowing a disease process
  • Prevention of disease
  • Diagnosis of disease
  • Desired alterations in physiological processes, all with minimal risk to patient
